Automotive Interiors: Why Interiors Matter

There's a saying in the auto industry that goes something like this: "While the exterior attracts you, it's the interior that keeps you."
Think of the car interior like a relationship: Typically you're first physically attracted to a significant other, but you marry them when you know such a person is also compatible on the inside. It's why designers and engineers are putting more emphasis on creating more desirable interiors for their vehicles, because it's not just all looks on the outside that matter to drivers anymore.
It seems that new materials (plastics, composites, bio-plastics, vinyl, leather) are being developed every day to add to the array of options automakers have at their disposal. But the real trick is selecting from the material options so that the interior meets the character of the vehicle model, brand and targeted demographic.
